How it works

A link on our domain opens the Telegram app directly — the blocked t.me is not involved. Any link works: channels, groups, private chats, invites and messages.

You need the Telegram app installed. If Telegram itself is fully blocked on the network, only a VPN/proxy will help.

Replace t.me with tlgme.app in 3 steps

  1. Copy the link you want to open — for example t.me/durov.
  2. Paste it into the field above — or just change t.me to tlgme.app by hand. The part after the slash stays exactly the same.
  3. Use the result, tlgme.app/durov. It builds a tg:// deep link and opens the same channel, chat or profile in your Telegram app.

It works for every kind of link: public channels and groups, private invite links /+… and single messages.

What won't help

  • A VPN, in most cases. If only the t.me domain is blocked or unavailable, a VPN changes nothing about opening a tg:// link — the app is already reachable. A VPN only matters if the Telegram app itself cannot connect anywhere (its protocol is blocked on your network), which is a different, rarer situation.
  • Switching browser or device. The block sits on the domain, not on your browser — the same t.me link fails in Chrome, Safari and Firefox alike, and on another phone or computer.
  • Waiting and retrying the t.me link.While the domain is blocked in your country, reloading won't open it. The tg:// deep link sidesteps the domain entirely.

Share your working link with your audience

Why won't t.me links open?

A t.me link opens through the t.me domain, which can be unavailable — blocked in your country, or suspended at the .me registry (in July 2026 t.me was put on serverHold and links stopped opening in browsers worldwide until the registry lifted it a day later). The Telegram app and its servers keep working the whole time — only the web link breaks.

How do I open a Telegram link when t.me is blocked?

Replace t.me with tlgme.app in the link (for example, t.me/durov → tlgme.app/durov). It opens the same chat or channel directly in the Telegram app, bypassing the blocked domain.

What is a good t.me alternative?

tlgme.app keeps the same address after the slash and opens Telegram through the native tg:// scheme, without touching the blocked t.me domain. The part after the slash stays identical, so every link keeps working.

Is Telegram itself blocked, or just the t.me domain?

These are two different things. Usually only the t.me web domain is blocked or unavailable, while the Telegram app and its servers keep working — so a tg:// deep link opens your chats normally and no VPN is needed. Only if the Telegram app itself cannot connect anywhere (its protocol is blocked on your network) do you need a VPN or proxy.

Does it work without a VPN?

Yes, if only the t.me domain is blocked and not the app itself. The tg:// deep link opens the chat in your installed app directly, so no VPN is required. A VPN only helps in the rarer case where the Telegram app cannot connect at all.

Why isn't Telegram Web (web.telegram.org) working?

Telegram Web lives on web.telegram.org, a separate site from the t.me link domain. If it won't load, it may be blocked on your network or you may be offline — that is a different problem from a t.me link not opening. tlgme.app does not depend on the web client: it builds a native tg:// deep link that opens the installed app directly, and can offer Telegram Web only as a fallback.

Does the link work on desktop and mobile?

Yes. On iOS, Android and desktop with Telegram installed it opens the app. Without the app it offers to open Telegram Web or install the app.

What is a tg:// link and how is it different from t.me?

tg:// is Telegram's native URL scheme. Your operating system hands a tg:// link straight to the installed Telegram app, without ever contacting the t.me domain — which is why it keeps working when t.me is blocked or down. A t.me link, by contrast, first has to load the t.me web page before it can redirect you.

Will the link open if Telegram isn't installed?

Not straight into the app — but the page offers to open the chat in Telegram Web (for public channels and profiles) or to install the app. Once Telegram is installed, the same tlgme.app link opens it directly.

Is it safe to use instead of t.me?

Yes. It never asks for your login or password, stores no data and does not proxy your messages — it only builds a standard tg:// link and hands opening to the Telegram app.
